Question by Deej: For people who have used the drug Accutane?
I have just begun Accutane treatment and am admittedly frightened by the potential side effects, particularly IBD. If you would take the time, I would truly appreciate you telling me your experience with Accutane and whether or not you would recommend the drug to another. My doctor, who is a board-certified dermatologist, has been prescribing the drug for about 30 years and claims that he has never had a patient who experienced long-term adverse side effects. I am male, so you need not mention the pregnancy risk associated with Accutane. My father underwent four or five cycles of this drug and is really imposing it upon me, claiming that it will work miracles for me, and that all the warnings are simply used to prevent litigious individuals from filing frivolous lawsuits.
Once again I do sincerely appreciate any time you have taken to answer this question. However, please do not offer trite admonition, such as “make sure you do your research, there are serious side effects!” Believe me, I have meticulously researched Accutane and am only interested in anecdotal tales.

Well I must say it does work miracles because my brother was on it about 3 years ago he had very bad acne on his face after his cycles on accutane his face was flawless.. 3 years later not even one pimple.
But.. about 7 or 8 months ago he was hospitalized and doctors thought it was MS, turns out it wasn’t but if his symptoms ever come back it is for sure MS. He recently talked to a doctor who told him it could be from accutane. Although we are not 100% sure, I believe it because I have read and heard some stories of people who have been on the drug and suffered long term illnesses.
